Cultural development in an area results from a mixture of internal and external things. The mixing of culture and art by early settlers and new settlers resulted in diverse architectural forms, even though they share the same principles of traditional values (Austronesian collective memory). Toba and Toraja Batak architecture is hollow architecture with a similar roof shape that resembles the shape of a boat, a typology of houses and barns facing each other, and a housing complex oriented to form a particular axis. This research used an exploratory-qualitative approach, using literature sources combined with direct observations in the field. This research aims to find the level of closeness between Toba and Toraja Batak architecture based on the collective memory of the Austronesian people.
2024-04-01T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 ATRIUM: Jurnal Arsitektur https://atrium.ukdw.ac.id/index.php/jurnalarsitektur/article/view/228 Analisis Qanun dan Perwujudan Syariat Islam pada Arsitektur Tradisonal Aceh 2023-11-14T02:12:43+00:00 Hendra Fahruddin Siregar hendrafs@dosen.pancabudi.ac.id Dara Wisdianti hendrafs@dosen.pancabudi.ac.id Dewangga Futtra Yusnadi hendrafs@dosen.pancabudi.ac.id
Title: Analysis of Qanun and The Uniqueness of Regional Colors in Traditional Acehnese House Architecture

Qanun are regulations related to Islamic Shari’a in aspects of life and society. The form of Islamic Shari’a in Aceh has been integrated into the form of architecture. This is stated in the form of traditional Rumoh Aceh culture, which closely relates to philosophy and Shari’a. The research aims to find out how much influence Qanun regulations have on the architecture of Rumoh Aceh and the typical colors used in it. This research uses descriptive and observational methods. The results of this research explain that Qanun regulations have a very close influence on the architecture of Rumoh Aceh. There are several things related to the shape of Rumoh Aceh, such as the shape of the building and the ornaments of the Aceh House, which are in the form of plants and other motifs and do not conflict with Islamic Shari’a. Apart from that, the color of Rumoh Aceh is very distinctive, with yellow dominating the meaning of health and warmth. These values are a cultural interpretation of the Acehnese people, which have been implemented for a long time as local wisdom, which is based on and in line with Qanun regulations.
2024-04-01T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 ATRIUM: Jurnal Arsitektur https://atrium.ukdw.ac.id/index.php/jurnalarsitektur/article/view/248 Pengalaman Sense of Smell pada Arsitektur Rumah Adat Suku Osing 2023-12-06T09:15:35+00:00 Yusuf Ariyanto yusuf.ariyanto@ciputra.ac.id Helen Saphira yusuf.ariyanto@ciputra.ac.id Jason Santoso yusuf.ariyanto@ciputra.ac.id Gwyneth yusuf.ariyanto@ciputra.ac.id Albert Jonathan Tandiary yusuf.ariyanto@ciputra.ac.id
Title: Sense of Smell Experience on Osing Traditional House Architecture

Nusantara architecture results from identical thinking on cultural background and natural conditions that produce physical comfort and atmosphere resulting from the response of human senses, one of which is the sense of smell. The study focuses on the influences or sense of smell responses associated with buildings, such as building materials used, softscape, and hardscape that produce certain scents, especially in Osing Tribe's Indigenous Houses. In line with that, the study identified smells through sensory mapping and the smell intensity influencing the atmosphere by superimposing a Likert scale with a smells wheel from two objects studied, Homestay Bata Merah and Villa SoLong in Banyuwangi. The results of this study found that building elements such as wood, terraces, natural stones, ceramics, paving blocks, and linen are the primary materials that give characteristic aroma, followed by vegetation such as trees that have flowers or sweet-aromatic fruit also dominate, especially in the Homestay Bata Merah. On the other hand, the typical smells are also formed by the influence of geographical conditions and wind movements as the medium of smells material spread, as in Vila SoLong, which has typical ocean smells. The sense of smell experience of traditional house buildings also shapes Nusantara Architecture's identity and improves the comfort of visitors or people active in it.
2024-04-01T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 ATRIUM: Jurnal Arsitektur https://atrium.ukdw.ac.id/index.php/jurnalarsitektur/article/view/273 Hidup Hijau di Tepi Air 2024-04-22T04:42:18+00:00 Gunawan Tanuwidjaja gunte@petra.ac.id Audrey Ryuka Puspita Darmosugondo gunte@petra.ac.id Priscilla Allodya Mintalangi gunte@petra.ac.id
Title: Green Living by the Water; Testing Punggol Waterway Terraces as a Model for Eco-Friendly Apartment Design in Singapore

This research discusses the importance of green architecture and green low-cost apartments in addressing the discord between the environment and society, particularly in developing new cities like the National Capital of Nusantara. This concept began gaining recognition in 2013 in Singapore, which has adopted the principles of Green Building. One successful example is the Punggol Waterway Terraces Apartment, which emphasizes sustainable design while considering resource efficiency and social inclusivity. Although this concept offers significant benefits, several challenges remain, including costs, accessibility, and efficiency. This study proposes research on the Green Low-Cost Apartment concept, focusing on the Punggol Waterway Terraces Apartment as a successful example. The research method used is Case Study Research, and the results highlight the design, facilities, costs, and innovations related to this concept. Punggol Waterway Terraces is part of Punggol Eco-town, a sustainable and innovative solutions laboratory. However, some weaknesses, such as lack of building maintenance and privacy, must be addressed. Nonetheless, this apartment demonstrates HDB's seriousness in realizing the concept of 'Green Living by the Waters' by implementing various green technologies and good social facilities. Thus, this apartment becomes a successful case study supporting sustainable development in Singapore.
2024-04-01T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 ATRIUM: Jurnal Arsitektur https://atrium.ukdw.ac.id/index.php/jurnalarsitektur/article/view/272 Pengaruh Pencahayaan terhadap Kinerja Karyawan di Kantor Swarna Hutama Loka Asia, Bali 2024-04-18T11:04:11+00:00 Elena Luwiska Wijanarko satyayoga@staff.ukdw.ac.id Griffita Liunsanda satyayoga@staff.ukdw.ac.id Sheryn Meivy Hendra satyayoga@staff.ukdw.ac.id Yohanes Satyayoga Raniasta satyayoga@staff.ukdw.ac.id
Title: The Lighting Effect on Employee Performance in the Swarna Hutama Loka Asia, Bali Office

Lighting is one of the essential aspects to support daily human activities. The result of the reflection of light onto an object allows us to see clearly and comfortably so that the work can be done correctly. A good workspace should fulfill the comfortability aspects of its users. One of them is visual comfort, which affects worker performance and productivity. Optimal employee performance and productivity can be achieved if the comfort points in the workspace comply with standards, i.e., the lighting design provisions for the workspace layout and the required light intensity. The research method used in this study is a comparative method with a combined methods approach, namely by comparing the results of qualitative (respondents' questionnaire) and quantitative (measurement of light intensity and Window Wall Ratio) methods according to SNI 03-6575-2001 standards: Procedures for designing artificial lighting systems in buildings. This method is used to analyze the lighting and visual comfort of the room and its relation to the productivity of Swarna Hutama Loka (SHL) Asia’s office users. Generally, if employees feel comfortable with the workplace's lighting intensity, their performance and productivity will also increase. However, it does not always work in some conditions due to factors other than lighting, such as furniture arrangement and environmental adaptation, which are not included in this research.
2024-04-01T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 ATRIUM: Jurnal Arsitektur https://atrium.ukdw.ac.id/index.php/jurnalarsitektur/article/view/258 Redesain Penataan Pohon Pada Rest Area Jalibar Desa Oro Oro Ombo, Kota Batu 2024-03-07T05:55:29+00:00 Putri Sifaul Qolbi psifa1507@gmail.com Rizli Alfian psifa1507@gmail.com Dian Kartika Santoso psifa1507@gmail.com
Title: Redesign of Tree Arrangement in Jalibar Rest Area, Oro Oro Ombo Village, Batu City

The Jalibar Rest Area is one of the tourist support facilities in Oro Oro Ombo Village. However, this rest area does not yet have a good green planning plan, even though one of the supporting comfort areas in the rest area is the proper arrangement of trees. This research identifies existing tree species and analyzes their functions, evaluates tree arrangements, and recommends tree arrangements based on their function and planting location. The research was conducted in the Jalibar Rest Area in Oro Oro Ombo Village, Batu District, Batu City, East Java. The analytical methods used are Key Performance Index (KPI), Comparative Study, and Spatial Mapping. Based on field observations, it is known that the Jalibar Rest Area has 123 trees with 16 types of trees. Based on the evaluation results, it is known that the suitability of the tree's function to its location, namely that the outer zone of the rest area should be planted with shade trees, guides and trees of aesthetic value. The parking zone is planted with trees that function as shade trees, guides and absorb pollutants. As well as service zones planted with trees with the functions of shade, absorbing pollutants and aesthetics. Recommendations for redesigning tree arrangements in the Jalibar Rest Area include adjusting the function of trees in each zone by maintaining appropriate tree species, replacing inappropriate tree species, adding and subtracting trees based on their planting distance.
2024-04-01T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 ATRIUM: Jurnal Arsitektur
